For those of you who don’t know, this is the same base that the Google Chrome browser is built on. The reason for this is that Microsoft has changed the core of the browser and rather than working on the existing platform, they have built the new Edge browser on the Chromium base. yes, that’s correct, its a ‘Replacement’ and not just a regular update. Nicknamed, the ‘Edge Chromium’, the new browser is a replacement to the existing Edge browser.
Recently, Microsoft ended the suspense and announced the new Microsft Edge browser. Yes, we did see a fair share of jokes and jibes, but something about the tone of the announcement felt different. However, everything changed when news started circulating about Microsoft working on a new ‘Edge’ browser. Very soon, the trend returned, and after several months of complaints and dissatisfaction related to overall performance, the Microsoft Edge browser, just like its predecessors, became yet another medium to download a better web browser for the PC. The Edge browser got a new logo, some visual changes, but remained the same Internet Explorer, at its heart. Years passed, and soon, Microsoft introduced a new browser to replace Internet Explorer, and that browser was none other than Microsoft Edge. Microsoft Edge, which is based on the Chromium project, is the only browser that supports both new and legacy Internet Explorer-based websites with dual-engine support. It came to a point where people who bought Microsoft PCs, used the Internet explorer for just one task – Downloading another browser. Is Microsoft Edge replacing Internet Explorer On some versions of Windows 10, Microsoft Edge can replace Internet Explorer with a more stable, faster, and modern browser. The humble browser has been the mainstay of Microsoft since the very beginning, but the moment competitors like Safari and Google Chrome came into the market, the humble Internet Explorer quickly conceded defeat. Microsoft Edge will be the default browser in Windows 10, and the one that most consumers will use to browse the web in Microsoft’s next operating system.When it comes to a web browser, one of the oldest in the market, has been the Internet Explorer. “You’re going to care about the blasting fast technology that’s inside it,” said Joe Belfiore on stage at Build. Microsoft Edge is designed to be basic and minimalist for the future, and early previews include new features like digital ink annotation, Cortana integration, and a built-in reading list. While Microsoft Edge is the successor to Internet Explorer, Microsoft will keep its aging browser around for enterprise customers. The Edge naming won’t surprise many as it’s the same moniker given to the new rendering engine (EdgeHTML) that Microsoft is using for its Windows 10 browser. Known as Project Spartan initially, Microsoft is revealing today that the company will use the Microsoft Edge name for its new browser in Windows 10.
